Day 5 #BKGratitudeChallenge :: Find Opportunity
When you don’t feel grateful, you can still be, think or seek gratitude. A perspective of gratitude helps to transform obstacles into opportunities. It helps us find the open window when a door closes.
Nearly three years ago my beloved pole studio closed. It had been my weekly support, my sacred space, my tribe for seven years. I explored different types of dance and community. I spent more time with my husband. I danced on the beach. Every week. I developed a deeper, connection to the magic of nature.
Focusing on what I was grateful for helped me cope with the loss and what was missing from my life.
The studio eventually re-opened in a new, bigger space. I returned as did my teacher and many classmates.
I discovered I needed to keep beach dancing too. I felt something missing without it. Women began asking to join me.
I recently facilitated a beach bliss dancing class (and have workshops coming in Spring.) The following day, I was surprised to actually feel grateful the studio had closed. If it hadn’t, It’s unlikely I would’ve been compelled to develop a weekly beach bliss dancing practice. Nor been able to answer Nature’s call to share it with women now.
**This is Day 5 of the #BKGratitudeChallenge, a free 6 day challenge. We’re cultivating the six habits of highly grateful people/pole dancers. Join in on your own or share your experience with words and/or a photo. Use the hashtag #BKGratitudeChallenge so we can find each other.
