Sun Highlights at Kiawah Island S Factor Retreat
It began on the drive from the Charleston airport to Kiawah Island as Carolyn, Tina, Jennifer and I chatted and caught up. We grew silent, mesmerized when Jennifer directed our attention to the surrounding live-oak trees. The late afternoon sun lit up the treetops with a golden-orange glow that looked like halos. It foreshadowed the extraordinary power of the sun on Kiawah Island and was something I wrote about the first night.
What is it about the South that slows us down? Maybe it’s the thick warm air that wraps around you like a lover’s embrace. Or the infamous hospitality.
It could also be the mesmerizing ethereal golden light. This island has a special energy that combines wildness & peace in a way I’m not sure I’ve felt before.
If you followed my journey at the May retreat you know I had a challenging and tearful day on Saturday followed by a sun restoring experience on Sunday.
…the rising sun pulled me to my feet. I circled my hips while stripping off my tank top. My head fell back as my neck, chest and tummy absorbed the sun’s rays into my skin. My belly forgave me. I forgave her. Tears of joy trickled down my cheeks as the sun bathed me in radiant light. I felt the sun’s fire fill me to the depths of my soul. My muscles began to heat and vibrate as if plugged into the sun’s energy. My emotional exhaustion dissipated. The sun’s fiery energy fueled me. Every cell in my body began to tingle. My fire gauge felt reset to high. In that moment I felt inspired to dance to my ‘fire’ song at the Erotic Creature Ball.
In the three months since, my preferred way to begin the day is with an early morning sun-walk. I feel the difference in my energy levels throughout the day when it’s foggy or I can’t do it because of other commitments.
Surprising Invitation
Recently, I was invited to learn about Solavei™ by Heidi, one of my friends from the retreat. Towards the end of the retreat, we did a visualization where our erotic creature animal appeared to us with a message, the answer to our question. My Tiger presented me a note I retrieved from around her neck. I unfolded it revealing one word: FIRE
I believed it meant to rely on my inner fire, my passion. And to fuel my fiery energy with time spent in the early morning sun. If you recall, the intention I set for the retreat was receptivity.
